At Perth, this year, The Tallest Man On Earth, aka songwriter Kristian Matsson (Sweden), is returning to the Australian shores this October for The Tallest Man On Earth in the Australian Tour. Joining Matsson, would be the Australian troubadour, or the Old Man River.

Matsson is said to be the rarest of the performers worldwide. He is especially known for his charismatic and captivating, passion for his performance which bleeds through every single time he takes to the stage. When fans lined up to see the sold-out Bon Iver performances at New York City’s Town Hall in late 2008,  a few of them went with any expectations of the opening act. But the audiences that night, and on every other night of Bon Iver’s tour that December, were introduced to something special, something unforgettable for the audience.

In 2008, The Tallest Man On Earth released as one of the year’s most powerful records, Shallow Grave, which Pitchfork praised calling Matsson “a natural-born folksinger, earnest, clever and comforting.” In April 2010, TTMOE’s picked up where Shallow Grave left off, releasing his second LP, The Wild Hunt. The remainder of 2010 was spent with Matsson doing what he does best: performing. The concluding song of his set, ‘Like The Wheel’ quickly became a crowd favourite spreading virally through YouTube videos. This track, along with four others, make up his most recent release Sometimes the Blues is Just a Passing Bird, an EP that was written and recorded in entirety after The Wild Hunt.

The seemingly effortlessness melodic sensibility and the deft lyricism of the Tallest Man on Earth will be showcased on his Australian Tour this October. With two new releases in arms for Aussie audiences, these shows are not to be missed happening at Perth. The event is to be taking place on the 27th of October.
